Jimmy Choo + Rob Pruitt

Jimmy Choo has collaborated with Contemporary artist Rob Pruitt to design a limited edition capsule collection for Cruise 2013.  Pruitt is the latest of several contemporary artists that have partnered with the brand, including Marilyn Minter for the spring/summer 2011 Crystal cruise collection and Richard Philips for the spring/summer 2008 collection.  The brand’s creative directors, Sandra Choi and Simon Holloway, “were captivated by Pruitt’s energy, his computer screen use of colour and the festive exuberance of his prints and materials; there were elements in his work that reminded us in subtle ways of the Jimmy Choo design iconography,” according to Vogue UK.

Pruitt is well-known for his glittery panda paintings and his 2011 installation of a seven foot tall Andy Warhol monument in New York’s Union Square.  No stranger to fashion-related work, Pruitt created a sculptural installation at Opening Ceremony’s Ace Hotel boutique in 2006, as well as designed a line of t-shirts for the stores in late 2010.  The Choo-Pruitt collection, composed of 19 items, including shoes, handbags, and leather goods, will hit stores this November.
