London-based fashion design label Mother of Pearl has teamed up with American painter Fred Tomaselli on their fall/winter 2012 ready-to-wear collection. The brand’s designer, Maia Norman, is no stranger to the art world – her life partner of 20 years is Damien Hirst, the world’s richest celebrity artist. So it comes as no surprise that she would seek inspiration from and collaborate with a contemporary artist.
The newest collection features sporty yet stylish separates, such as slim-cut pants, floor-length skirts, and blouses, decorated in Tomaselli’s eye-catching, Surrealist-inspired prints. Tomaselli is known for his intricate paintings and collages on wooden panels, incorporating an array of visual references.
The collection is sold at Opening Ceremony and prices range from $550 to $3,500.
